The ULAQ DSH/ ASW will be commissioned after potential partners are found. According to Turkish sources, the potential partners may include Oman, Qatar, Iran and other South American and African countries.
Co-developed by the Turkish firm Ares and Defense Technologies Company Meteksan Savunman launched the surface variant jointly. The surface warfare platform has an effective range of 400 km and a speed of 65 mph. Both the Ares and Meteksan are privately owned defense companies.
The Surface Warfare unmanned vessel has day/night capabilities and lethal anti-ship and anti-submarine guided missiles. The anti-submarine and anti-ship guided vessel can be remotely operated from a destroyer, off-shore station, and a flying platform.
The prototype design was first finalized in 2020 and completed trials the same year. The ULAQ anti-submarine ship is equipped with Turkish-made L-UMTAS missiles developed by the state-controlled defense firm Roketsan.
The Defense News quoted Burak Akbas, the director of international sales for Meteksan as saying that they are in talks with various potential partners for the sale and co-production of the ship. The Bayraktar-designed and manufactured armed and surveillance drones have been playing a decisive and proven role in the Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict and the Russian-Ukraine war. Turkish Aerospace Industry has developed various versions of Atak Attack helicopters and is close to unveiling a 5th generation of stealth fighter capable of competing with modern stealth fighter jets.
